May 2016 Events

Saturday May 7: Fishing day at Sandia Lakes! Fun! Plan to gather around 9am. Kids 11 and under fishing is: $ 6.00 for 2 fish limit. $12.00 – 3 fish limit. $15.00 – 4 fish limit. Your choice.

Adults (parents/guests/ tag alongs) $3.00 visitor or for fishing $20.00  5 fish limit.

Sandia Lakes will have a section of the lake roped off for us to use that day.  It will be at the end of lake number 3, the largest lake, near the restrooms.  Take a left after the check in gate.

Sunday May 15: Leader Meeting, 4PM

Tuesday May 17: Pack Meeting @ 7PM, at Sierra Vista Elementary Cafeteria.


Friday-Sunday June 3-5: Pack campout, at Jack's Creek campsite.

April 2016 Events

Saturday April 2: Bizarre Foods Challenge, 3PM-5PM, at Paradise Skies Park. Bring a challenging dish or drink if you wish, otherwise just show up for some tasty fun!

Sunday April 10: Muggle Quiddich Match, 3PM-5PM, at Paradise Hills Park. Participants are required to bring a broom (the smaller the broom the better), water bottle, neckerchief, hat/sunglasses/sunblock, and wear your class B t-shirt.

Sunday April 17: Leader Meeting, 4PM

Tuesday April 19: Pack Meeting @ 7PM, at Sierra Vista elementary cafeteria.

February 2016 Events

Tuesday, Feb. 23: Pack Meeting, 7PM at Sierra Vista Elementary Cafeteria (4th Tuesday!)

Saturday, Feb. 27: Blue & Gold Banquet, 1-3PM at San Ysidro Church, 5015 Corralles Rd. (route 448) [Courtesy of troop 702] Here is a map to the church.  The venue location has changed as of 2/24/16!!!  The original location was overbooked.  The new location is the Rio Rancho Elks Lodge.  The Elks Lodge is located at intersection of Sara Rd and Barbara Loop, where troop 714 meets: 1530 Barbara Loop SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  Map to Elks Lodge is here.
Note that there are NO LIQUIDS allowed to be brought into elks lodge. Instead, we shall bring tea and lemonade powders to the lodge, to mix on site, using water and ice available on site. Same time (1-3pm), same date (Sat 2/27/16)

January 2016 Events

Sunday January 10: Pinewood Derby Build Clinic, 1PM to 3PM, at Jessica Yocker's house (see pending email for details)

Sunday January 17: Leader Meeting, 4PM

Tuesday January 19: Pack Meeting @ 7PM, with pictures for Pinewood Derby Licenses.

Friday, Jan. 29: Derby Impound, 6:30PM to 8PM, All Saints Lutheran Church: All scouts that check-in at impound receive a pinewood derby patch. Bring all materials with you to finish your car (if not already finished) such as: pennies/weights, super-glue (secure weights), graphite dry lubricant only, etc. Be sure your paint & glue is beyond dry before check-in!

Saturday, Jan. 30: Pinewood Derby, 8:30AM to 11ish, All Saints Lutheran Church: Registration (non-impound) @8:30 AM. Opening ceremony @9AM. Full pack picture taken (class A uniform!) Potluck breakfast sign-up sheet! Bring things to cheer on your car (poster, chant, flag, costume?).

December 2015 Events

Saturday December 5 or 12: Possible service project at a local soup kitchen, details TBD We are participating in the KOATs for Kids drive, see pack meeting below.

Tuesday December 15, 7PM, Sierra Vista Elementary Cafeteria: Pack Meeting, with Potluck and Gift Exchange, ~$10 item each:

We will be collecting any lightly used coats that you may have around the house for the KOATS for Kids program run by channel 7 news.  Please keep in mind that ALL sizes are welcome, including adult sizes.  The program includes kids up through high school, so anything you might have is greatly appreciated.

We will be having our potluck at this pack meeting, so if you haven't already, please sign up for a food item at the link below.  We do have some food allergies in our group so please do not bring anything made with nuts or peanut butter.  Thank you in advance for helping to keep our kids safe and healthy!

Cub Scout Christmas Potluck

Our gift exchange is also planned for this meeting.  Any child (scout or sibling) is welcome to participate.  If you bring a gift, you get to take one home!  We have a limit of up to $10.00 for the gifts.  Please bring a wrapped gift for every child who wishes to participate in the exchange.  Drop the gift off at the gift table when you arrive at the pack meeting.  Each gift will be assigned a number and the numbers will be put into a hat.  At the end of the meeting each child who brought a gift will draw a number from a hat and take home the gift with the corresponding number.

November 2015 Events

Saturday November 7: Pow Wow provided by GSWC; also Popcorn monies due to Jenn Munro (Popcorn Kernel)

Wednesday November 11: Veterans Day Parade/Activities (Scouts to be in parade): We have the opportunity to participate in the Veteran's Day Parade that will start at Bullhead Park in SE Albuquerque (1606 San Pedro Dr SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108) and travel to the New Mexico Veteran's Memorial Park at Louisiana and Gibson (1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE; 505-256-2042).  We will need to gather at Bullhead Park at 8:00 AM, and the parade starts promptly at 9:00 AM.  Once we finish the parade at the Veteran's Memorial Park (~10 AM), there will be a required-participation ceremony at the memorial (10AM to 11AM Musical Prelude, 11AM to 12PM Ceremony). There will be shuttles to get you back to your car after the ceremony.  Please wear your class A uniform for this event. This year we are considering having all participants walk the parade.  If you wish, you can bring a small American flag to wave while walking in the parade.  The pack flags will be carried by pack leaders.

Thursday November 12: Cub Scout Rio Grande District Roundtable, 7PM

Saturday November 14: Rocket Launch Day, 8:30 AM, with ARS, at Rio Rancho Site.  Please be prepared with your paperwork (waiver), water, rockets, engines, etc.

Sunday November 15:
Leader Meeting, 4PM, at All Saints Lutheran Church

Tuesday November 17:
Pack meeting & Bobcat Ceremony, 7PM, at Sierra Vista Elementary Cafeteria

Saturday November 21: Scout day at the Lobos! The UNM Lobos play against Colorado State. Kickoff is at 3:30. The scouts will be participating in the flag ceremony at the beginning of the game (class A uniform event). If it is cool that day, scouts may wear a long sleeved shirt under their uniform. Only registered, uniformed adults will be allowed on the field. Flags are to be at least 2'x4' in size. The pack has 2 American flags and 2 Pack flags that can be used. If you need a flag, please let Kathy know. Tickets are $13 each. If you wait until game day, the tickets will be $26. All the seats will be in the Turquoise section. If you are interested in going, please let Kathy know no later than Sunday, November 8.

Tuesday Oct 20: Pack meeting and Carnival (costumes, carving, face painting): Pack meeting at 7PM, location is Sunset View Elementary Cafeteria (this month only).  We will be collecting past-due registration forms and dues:

For returning scouts - your amount is $64 or $76 (if you are taking a Boy's Life Subscription). For new scouts - your amount is $64 or $85 (if you are taking a Boy's Life Subscription).
Also please bring your registration form and payment for Pow Wow sign-up.

The pack meeting will also be our October carnival: Lots of games, prizes, activities, costume dress-up contest, also bring your jack-o-lantern for the pumpkin-carving contest!

Sunday Oct 25: Fall Hike at the Quarai ruins south of Manzano, NM.  Picnic at 1PM, hike begins at 1:45 PM.  Please wear closed toe shoes, bring your hiking stave and water for the hike.  See attachment below for map.
